Born and raised in Pakistan Bilal wasn’t used to the fashion world. Wearing a simple pair of jeans and t-shirt was just fine with him. “I was clueless about fashion until I got to the states. Having fashionable clothes was the farthest from my mind at that age.” At the young age of eleven, Bilal moved to Brooklyn, New York, one of the biggest fashion capitals of the world. It wasn’t until his junior year in college when he started to play around with pieces of clothes. “I would see people dressed up in the city and I would buy similar pieces and add my own twist to it.” Like most struggling college students, Bilal didn’t have a ton of money to spend on expensive designer clothing. He would take more price friendly pieces and pair them with one expensive piece and create a unique and fun look. “I shop everywhere and piece things together. Some of my favorite stores are Club Monaco, Zara, H&M, and The Tie Bar. I can create some amazing looks just using one or two pieces from these different stores.” Being in New York has made Bilal push the envelope when it comes to style. “I don’t think men should be afraid of color. I like to challenge my style. I like to see what I can pair with what and get away with. I like to try dark suits with cobalt blue shoes or bright pants and a pale blazer.” When I asked him to describe his own personal style he had this to say, “I would say my look is modern, outgoing, and casual. My style is very versatile. I like to wear hats and sneakers one day and a suit and tie the next, it’s fresh and fun.” But his fashion sense doesn’t stop there he also has an amazing remarkable sense of smell often times wearing Cartier Declaration or Gucci men’s fragrances. Bilal has been setting trends with his flawless fashion sense. With over 30,000 followers on Instagram, he has become a men’s fashion icon.
