Friday Night Lights: Get to know the Masters of Originality

Photos by: Chuckstr Photo www.chuckstr.com

Master of Original, which is also known as MO, was established in 2012 by Charles Biffle and Kenny Smith. They are the masters behind this authentic street wear brand. I caught up with these two entrepreneurs at Starbucks one day to get the inside scoop on what's behind the MO.

What is Master of Original?

"Master of Original is a brand that we started to represent everyone as an individual. When God created you, he created just one of you. Its no one else in the world who can be you." -K. Dot

The name was created while the guys were in school working towards their bachelor's degrees. They felt like they were their own masters of originality. So, why not start a brand that represents good people, good energy and good vibes.

"The brand thrives on creating and promoting a positive message for everyone. All good vibes"-Charles Biffle

The gentlemen majored in marketing (Kenny) and fashion/journalism (Charles) in college. Kenny drew up the MO logo in the summer of 2012, then printed up the first shirt that September. Since then, the brand has become known by many across the world. Its amazing what a small dream can turn into!

Charles says that MO is for everyone. Everyone has a MO; things that can motivate and inspire you daily. The brand has expanded into a much larger demographic; catching the eyes of people across the U.S. and over seas. Some of the finest people in the industry even rock with the MO brand:

What trends in fashion influence the MO brand?

"The 90's era plays a huge role in the creative aspects of MO. brand such as LRG, Diamond Supply, Marc Ecko, and Fashion Geek are who inspire the brand."

Kenny sugggests that everyone reads this book Unlabel: Selling You Without Selling Out by Marc Ecko. He says it's a very inspirational and motivations book that everyone can enjoy.

Customizations:

Designs can be customized in different color ways. If interested, email Kenny at: masteroforiginal@gmail.com

The future of M.O. is endless. The brand plans to expand by opening up a boutique and designing other articles of clothing. I'm waiting to see some MO socks you guys!

I had so much fun interviewing and shooting with these guys! I look forward to seeing the future of MO. I hope you guys enjoyed!
